Christ died for me. Christ died because of me.

This simple truth is beautifully expressed in Kempis's On The Passion of the Christ

Ignatius Press has recently published, for the time in English, Thomas A Kempis's On The Passion of the Christ: According to the Four Evangelists. It is a beautiful meditation very much in the style of Kempis's classic, The Imitation of Christ. A couple of excerpts:

O holy Son, my God's beloved Son, what have you done to deserve such dire treatment? Nothing, of course. But I? I am as one who is lost, for I am the cause of all your sorrows and distress. The enormity of my sins has brought this misery upon you, and to forgive my sins it was necessary for the Son of God to pay by suffering these bitter torments.

Therefore, devout soul, redeemed by Christ's crimson blood, be mindful of the Lord's scrourging and in return acknowledge your gratitude to him with a compassionate heart. ...If you have some difficult task to perform, or if something unexpected happens to your body, all will become light and easy to bear, if you meditate on Jesus' scourging.

You're The Poisonwood Bible!
by Barbara Kingsolver
Deeply rooted in a religious background, you have since become both isolated and schizophrenic. You were naively sure that your actions would help people, but of course they were resistant to your message and ultimately disaster ensued. Since you can see so many sides of the same issue, you are both wise beyond your years and tied to worthless perspectives. If you were a type of waffle, it would be Belgian.
